Headquartered in Kentucky, i-Wireless is a mobile virtual network provider (MVNO) that offers nationwide prepaid mobile services using the Sprint Nextel CDMA network. Today, the cellular network’s phones and services are sold in more than 2,200 Kroger retail locations and affiliated stores in 31 states. Additionally, i-Wireless prepaid phones, plans, and refills are also offered by other retailers throughout the United States.

Because i-Wireless relies on Sprint Nextel as the MVNO’s bandwidth provider, i-Wireless prepaid customers are guaranteed nationwide and high-quality digital cellular service as long as Sprint Nextel CDMA coverage is available.

With i-Wireless, prepaid users, regardless of their mobile usage patterns, no longer need to sign-up for long-term commitments, thus doing away with credit checks, complicated phone bills, and pre-termination penalties. And depending on their calling needs, i-Wireless prepaid users may choose pay-per-use (pay-as-you-go) plans or unlimited monthly plans.

Unlike other prepaid MVNOs, i-Wireless does not charge activation fees and roaming charges. But perhaps the most appealing selling point of i-Wireless is that the network does not charge incoming text messages in all of the prepaid plans.

Note: i-Wireless should not be confused with T-Mobile affiliate I Wireless. The two wireless networks are entirely different in infrastructure, ownership, and business operation.
